Train Hits Woman

Today in Needham, MA, the lunchtime commuter train ran over a woman.  The tragedy happened near the Hersey stop.  Spokewoman Lydia Rivera for the MBTA said it struck her at about half past noon due to the fact that she was trespassing near the Glendale Ave bridge.
Other commuters were victims to this tragedy as well.  That outbound train was halted for an hour before passengers could transfer to buses to be brought to their final destination.

“The MBTA is replacing the Needham line service with four buses between the Forest Hills and Needham Heights stations. Regular service should resume soon. MBTA police are investigating the accident.”

Garbage Truck Hits Sign In Tunnel

In other news, more victims of traffic were present in the Ted Williams Tunnel.  The tunnel was closed, backing up airport traffic, due to a truck hitting an overhead message board.  This truck was too tall for the tunnel and ignored warning signs before entering, said spokesman Eric Benson of the State Police.

The truck did not stop after the accident and was quickly pulled over in Dorchester on I-93.

“The message board is seriously damaged and hanging unsecured, and the left lane is closed going westbound in the tunnel,” Benson said.

This is currently under investigation.
